The Stewart Mitchell Company(SMCO) was established in 1991 with the mission of developing extraordinary properties that equally served the interests of the community and consumers.That mission began when John and Ella Detwiler pitched their tent on was called Coronado Beach in 1883 and offered a “slice of heaven” to those wanting to come to Florida. Their daughter Hannah D. Bonnet and her husband Harry , carried the baton for quite a while , before passing it to their daughter Jeanne B. Mitchell and her husband Fritz.Through my mother and fathers foresight that original mission continues to be a driving force through today. SMCO has always sought out the  finest  architects,engineers,lawyers,contractors, and support staff. This enables us to be one of the most respected property developers and brokers of real estate. We have specialize in residential in-fill communities, as well as commercial  and residential brokerage. We pride our selves on our ability to form productive relationships with business and government. We build everything with honesty, integrity, and a solid commitment to quality. We never sacrifice quality for profit. In fact, our properties produce more revenue due to the reputation we have earned. We design properties with the end consumer in mind, allowing investors to profit and consumers to live comfortably. Stewart B. Mitchell was born in New Smyrna Beach, FL and grew up in Lakeland.  From 1980 to 1984 he served as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer holding line and staff positions.  He worked as an investment broker with Dean Witter and J.W. Charles Bush Securities marketing stocks and bonds from 1985 to 1987.  As an Office Leasing Specialist with Turner Development from 1988-1991.  He has been President of the Stewart Mitchell Co., a real estate brokerage firm engaged in residential land development, commercial and residential sales, leasing and property management since 1991. During a portion of that time he had affiliations with Remax and  Marcus & Millichap, two national real estate sales organizations.  Since 1988 he has provided clients with  investment research, advisory and transaction services.

Mitchell has owned, managed or oversees management on multi-family, retail, office and vacant land holdings, which enables him to view all aspects of investment real estate from personal perspective. Mitchell has had borrowing relationships with SunTrust, Regions Bank, First Federal of New Smyrna Beach, Orange Bank of Florida and private entities.

Mitchell has served as the Past President of New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors, Toastmasters Club and the Southeastern Volusia Historical Foundation in Florida. He currently attends First Baptist Church of Winter Park.

Mitchell received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. in 1980 and earned the designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) from the Commercial Real Estate Institute in 1994.  He has additional professional education through Global Publishing, a company who specializes in providing real estate entrepreneurs with course work on acquisition, disposition, rehabilitation and development of residential and commercial property.
